Driving new user conversion for AI driven productivity tool with revamped onboarding
Habit Coach AI is a productivity app that helps users build better habits and achieve their goals with the support of an AI Coach that drives accountability. As the design lead, I worked closely with the founder and the development team to design and ship new features, revamp the visual identity and define product strategies. This project is the first phase of the product and brand revamp efforts to increase user conversion and engagement rates.

THE PROBLEM
Less than 8% of users that started the sign up flow completed the onboarding process. The existing experience was text heavy, impersonal and purely functional. User feedback showed that most users did not understand the core value of the product and were hesitant to sign in with their phone numbers.
THE SOLUTION
I analyzed the current onboarding, breaking down the user flow and understanding the intent and strategy behind it. Quick 10-15 minute usability testing interview with 3 users and user data from Amplitude helped me figure out the 'what' and 'why' behind usage patterns and drop off points. This helped me frame a renewed design strategy for a new user flow which I then visualized in Figma by referencing onboarding flows of multiple similar apps.
An onboarding flow that clearly communicates the product’s core value through engaging animated visuals, consistent UI, strategic micro-interactions, and a more intuitive, user-centric journey. The redesign applies principles of progressive disclosure and personalization, helping reinforce brand trust right at the beginning of the product experience.
