Habit Coach AI – Onboarding Redesign
Habit Coach AI is an accountability companion that helps users build better habits and achieve their goals with the support of an AI Coach. I designed the onboarding flow for the iOS app (currently in development), redefining the userflow and visual identity to increase user conversion and engagement rates.

BACKGROUND & CONTEXT
Driving new user conversion for AI driven productivity tool with redesigned onboarding
As the design lead at early stage start-up Habit Coach AI, I worked closely with the founder and the development team to design and ship new features, revamp the visual identity and define product strategies. The Onboarding Redesign project is the second phase of the product and brand revamp efforts to increase user conversion and engagement rates.
THE PROBLEM
Less than 8% of users that started the sign up flow, completed the onboarding process.
The existing experience was text heavy, impersonal and purely functional. User behavior and feedback showed that:
Most users did not understand the core value of the product and were hesitant to sign in with their phone numbers.
91% of the users drop off at the sign-up stage of the onboarding process. This was because the screen highlighted the option to sign up with their phone numbers.

An onboarding flow that clearly communicates the product’s core value through engaging animated visuals, consistent UI, strategic micro-interactions, and a more intuitive, user-centric journey.
The redesign applies principles of progressive disclosure and personalization, helping reinforce brand trust right at the beginning of the product experience.
THE NEW ONBOARDING FLOW
A benefits oriented app introduction that clearly communicates core value with engaging and animated visuals. Eliminates visual clutter from habit creation flow.
Introduces users to the core voice AI driven feature and habit creation flow early to build future user engagement and help users understand the different ways they can use Habit Coach AI for daily self-improvement.
PROJECTED IMPACT
With the redesign, we expect a 50–150 % increase in mobile onboarding completion, raising it from under 8 % to 12 %–18 %. For every 1,000 users entering the onboarding flow on mobile, this translates to 120–200 users fully onboarded, versus around 80 today.
BUSINESS IMPACT
Accelerated design-to-development cycles by from 3 weeks 1 week by using Cursor AI and Tailwind CSS for rapid prototyping.
Developed a refreshed identity and visual system to position Habit Coach AI as a an advanced, intelligent and data-driven productivity tool. Established brand and visual identity consistency across product and marketing channels, helping build stronger brand trust and confidence in the product.
Reinforced core value proposition of the product with clear messaging and intuitive user-centered flows.
